Motor TwinAir da Fiat leva o prêmio de “melhor motor do ano”

A revista britânica “Engine Technology International” anunciou os vencedores do “International Engine of the Year Awards 2011”, que já está em sua 13ª edição. O motor TwinAir da Fiat foi eleito o melhor motor do ano pela publicação. A votação foi feita através de um júri de 76 jornalistas e especialistas do sector, de 36 países diferentes, que também decretou a vitória do motor TwinAir na categoria de cilindrada abaixo de 1000 cm3. O motor TwinAir da Fiat Powertrain venceu ainda os prêmios “Best New Engine 2011” e “Best Green Engine 2011”.

Na categoria – “Best New Engine of the Year” -, o motor TwinAir bateu o motor eléctrico do Nissan Leaf, além do motor 1.6 Turbo da Ford e o turbodiesel de 2 litros da BMW, enquanto no “Green Engine of the Year”, superou o sistema híbrido da Toyota (Prius e Auris híbrido) e o motor eléctrico do Nissan Leaf. Na categoria “Best performance engine”, vendeu o motor V8 de 4.5 litros utilizado na Ferrari 458 Itália, superando o boxer de 3,8 litros da Porsche (911 GT3 e GT3 RS), o V8 de 6.2 litros do Mercedes SLS AMG e o 3.8 Biturbo do Nissan GT-R.
